Matinee Charity Concert 2015

 Welcome to Pecan's Personal Posts! Let's waste 10 minutes of your Sunday every month.

I'm here to spill all the details during my first Sri Kuala Lumpur's Matinee Charity Concert 2015
A 2-day concert held annually over the past few years in hopes of raising money to bring happiness and joy to the less fortunate. We, Pecan and Fudge were excited to be amazed by the colourful lights, harmonious singing and intricate dances.

~~~~~
Cramped in a tight corridor with a hundred of talking, noisy students while a teacher was trying to direct everyone. Not a great way to start my Friday after-school adventures. My friends and I didn't want to late so we stuffed our faces with chocolate candy, chips and apple juice ( Such a healthy meal).
The Opening Act
The opening act started with one of my classmates playing a large drum as people dressed in  traditional Malay clothing with "compangs" ( a small tambourine-sized drum) came on stage, making a melodic beat. My friend was playing the dhol at the sides. Then, various dancers graced the stage, performing traditional dances found all over Malaysia. Combined with the colourful lights and their vivid costumes, it was trippy and lively sight on stage. As the music and crowd calmed down, the emcees showed us a multimedia slideshow featuring the children at the Children's Wish Society of Malaysia and how a helping hand could be a miracle to others. Tears were flowing down my face and tissues were used.
Solo performance
The next act was a solo performance by Claudia Tan in which she sang "New York State of Mind" by Billie Joel. Her performance was STUNNING and so was she! After that was a duet on the broadway hit, "Take Me or Leave Me". It was delightful and beautifully sang! It was followed by a traditional Indian dance that portrayed a love story on two different individuals that came from different backgrounds in India.
SRI KL Dance Crew
After that was the long awaited magic act. The magician performed various mind-blowing tricks such as putting sharp knives on a box that was attached to a girl's head, having 2 girls magically appear and much more. I was wide-eyed throughout the whole act. Next was traditional butterfly dance portraying a love story where the girl wasn't allow to live happily ever after with her true love. The dance was absolutely breathtaking. The cameo of two of our teachers were hilarious but they had great acting skills as the parents. Laughing loudly with the crowd, the next act, a K-pop hip hop dance came out wearing their vibrant costumes.
The Emcees
Afterwards was the Diablo performance where the students showed off their talents with the Chinese yo-yo.
Lastly, the final act came on stage. They sang "All of Me" by John Legend to close the wonderful and epic Matinee Charity Concert. It was truly a magnificent concert, showcasing the many hidden talents in Sri KL. The emcees were great, always having the crowd in fits of laughter. The performances were incredible but personally, I didn't really like the costumes in a few of the acts. Overall, I'm very proud of the concert and they did really great! Actually it was better than what I have expected.
I'm so sorry if I missed out any performances as  I have really bad memory. The pictures are not mine, I'm not good with cameras. Credits to JM Photography for providing the pictures. Go check the page out on Facebook!
Well, see you next time in 3 weeks! Have a 'lovely' Monday my fellow procrastinators.
Adios, hippos!
Signing out,
Pecan xx
